RoT Marine Corp Hat Star, c. 1836

$4,200.00
DESCRIPTION

Republic of Texas Marine Corp Hat Star, circa 1836. Discovered in 1971 in Galveston, TX after Hurricane Edith.

These Naval insignias were probably stored in the warehouse of McKinney & Williams – a pair of merchants/financiers/arms dealers that supported the Texas revolution – for use by the Texas Navy. The warehouse was destroyed in the hurricane, and these insignias were never sold to the Texas Navy.

This extremely neat metal star has each letter of TEXAS in each point of the lone star, the MC of the Marine Corps on either side of the icon rope and anchor imagery in the center, and is most definitely a statement piece.

DETAILS & MEASUREMENTS
  • Measures 1.5" x 1.5"

  • Good condition, with light wear and scratches visible
