One Share of Vermont Texas Land Company, 1837
DESCRIPTION
These antique shares documents from the Vermont Texas Land Company are quite scarce. The company itself was formed on September 13, 1836 to purchase land in Texas, and shares circulated throughout Vermont until the mid 1840s – though there was no evidence to suggest any land was actually purchased.
Signed by Julius Converse, the 34th Governor of Vermont from 1872 to1874, this is quite an interesting piece of Texas history and in fantastic condition for its age.
DETAILS & MEASUREMENTS
Measures 8" width x 7.5" height
Good antique condition with strong, clear, & crisp ink on good paper
Dated January 9, 1837
